Cracking local gig yesterday with Rockies from all the South Devon choirs. Abbfest 2026. Always a fun gig singing in the field while people have a drink and something to eat. Great to see the friendship and camaraderie between all the rockies. Great feeling of 'one choir' even though we rehearse in different towns. The rockies were on top form and sounded fantastic and as always we all looked really smart! Thanks to the organisers for the invite, always nice to sing in the local community.

Another little road trip on Friday, this time down to the beautiful village of Tamerton Foliot and St Mary's Church. Its always so lovely to play in a church where the acoustics really help enhance the sound of the strings. Richard played a solo version of 'Can't help falling in Love with you' for the bridal party entrance. The rest of the ceremony was very much rock and pop with 'I don't want to miss a thing' and 'Always remember us this way' for the signing and Bon Jovi 'Living on a prayer' for the exit music. Brickhouse Vineyard. September 2026. Sometimes I am asked to play at an elopement where the ceremony and celebrations are intimate and very romantic. Last Monday I played for a lovely ceremony and drinks reception at this very beautiful venue near Exeter. Emma walked into one of my favourite melodies to play on solo violin - Concerning Hobbits from The Lord of The Rings. I played two new arrangements in the ceremony as well - Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden and Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs, both gorgeous to play. Road trip yesterday with Exe Valley String Quartet as we played for a wedding at the stunning Huntsham Court Country House, Devon. Always looks amazing in the Devon sunshine. Pre ceremony was full of classical music which is always nice to play and we got to play one of our brand new arrangements for the couples exit - Accidently in Love by Counting Crows! Its a busy September with weddings on every weekend. Love my job!

Sunday 23rd August 2026. Rock Choir Summer Sessions - 'Feeling Good'. What an amazing musical experience that was for everyone in the Great Hall yesterday. 800 singers learning and singing and recording a brand new arrangement of 'Feeling Good'. Such emotion in the room. It was a real priviledge to be up on the stage taking in the wonderful sound. More pictures and videos to come. Lovely day out yesterday with Exe Valley String Quartet. We played at a wedding at one of our very regular venues Deer Park Country House. Such a lovely place to play at the Summer House and then in the main ballroom. #weddingstringquartet

t has been a busy August out playing as a solo violinist. I am so fortunate to be invited to play at such beautiful venues. On Sunday I played at Cockington Court in Torquay which was so lovely. I played a few romantic songs before the ceremony while the guests sat down. Megan walked into 'Enchanted' by Taylor Swift which works so well for violin solo. I played 'Watermelon Sugar' by Harry Styles while the register was signed and then the bridal party and guests went out to 'Wildest Dreams' to add a bit of Bridgerton to the atmosphere. I was paid a really lovely compliment at the end by one of the registrars who wanted me to stay and play all day! www.musiciandevon.co.uk

Well that was a busy week. After two amazing performances conducting my Rock Choirs I played solo violin on Saturday for a private wedding in the very beautiful St Andrews Church in South Tawton near Okehampton. Lovely traditional wedding ceremony with Ave Maria (Schubert), Young and Beautiful (Lana Del Ray) and I get to Love you (Ruelle) amongst the music requests. After that we all headed up to Halford Manor Farm for the rest of the wedding. A marathon session of modern pop and rock songs on electric violin here playing background ambient music for well over two hours. Bovey Tracey Party in The Park 2026. Always a pleasure to sing at this really lovely community event in Bovey Tracey. 120 South Devon Rockies sung their hearts out in front of a great audience who were in the party mood with their picnics. We performed Spaceman and Hold the Line for the first time and the Rockies smashed it! Nice to see everyone chatting and socialising with each afterwards having something to eat and drink together to celebrate another successful gig. Next stop is Buckfast Abbey! Chaddlewood Farm Community Centre Summer Fair 2026. We had a lovely time this afternoon singing in Plympton. 65 Plymouth Rockies sang beautifully in the warm sunshine to an enthusiastic audience. This is where our new afternoon choir rehearses on a Tuesday afternoon and its a lovely venue within a really supportive and friendly community. Its been a busy summer so far and we haven't finished yet! Next stop is Bovey Tracey Party in the Park followed by the big summer fair at Buckfast Abbey in early August! Race for Life Plymouth 2026 Plymouth Race for Life. What a wonderful gig this is. 120 Plymouth Rockies singing their hearts out, clapping and cheering for two hours supporting all the amazing people running the 5k and 10k Race for Life all in aid of Cancer Research. A marathon sing at the Plymouth Running Festival today. We sang and we clapped and we cheered for the hundreds of runners in the half marathon and 10K. 7.30am arrive to avoid the road closures, 3 hours of singing and cheering, over 100 Plymouth Rockies having a great time hanging out together and singing with each other. Lovely solo violin wedding at the very special Boringdon Hall Hotel. What a gorgeous venue to play and to have your wedding at. Always love a venue with a balcony as well! We had some Taylor Swift today, Wildest Dreams for the entrance of the bridal party and You belong with me for the exit. I also played a couple of romantic classics for the signing of the register, Can't help falling in love with you and Your Song! I then accompanied the canapes and drinks reception for an hour with some more feel good uplifting pop and rock songs. Fab day! Lovely day out with Exe Valley String Quartet today. A road trip through the country lanes to St Matthews Church in Landscove nr Totnes. Just the ceremony today but a special request to accompany a singer for a unique song called 'Flowers' by Jordan Rakel. We also played 'Concerning Hobbits' which is a favourite of mine and 'Now we are free' from Gladiators and we even played some My Chemical Romance! Plymouth to Santander Mini Cruise - April 2026. Wow! What a time we had together. Four fabulous shows, a flash mob, lots of spontaneous singing, lots of laughter, new friendships made, good food (maybe a little drink as well!). Great team work! This trip showed everyone what Rock Choir truly is - yes we are a great choir but we are so much more than that! I was immensely proud to spend the last two days with you all - you were magnificent! Feedback from the passengers was actually quite emotional and very moving! So positive! The captain of the ship even came down to listen! Plymouth Rockies enjoyed singing in the Central Library this afternoon. It was the library's 10th Birthday and they have been having lots of different creative events and musical performances this week. It was lovely to perform with a smaller choir to a smaller audience and it made for a really intimate gig. Well done everyone, you sounded fantastic!
